I’ve tried to pick some things that I know peopl I’ve tried to pick some things that I know people enjoy buying at the moment - no issue with you buying any of it if you can afford it! The point that I want to make here is that often we dismiss the value of something based on the price. I do believe that it’s important to look at the benefits that you will get from the purchase, and it does help to compare it to other things that we may have no hesitation with buying. I say it all the time (sorry 😂) but our brain tries so hard to stop us trying something new, even if it’s good for us. Therefore saying it’s too expensive will be a good enough reason for your brain to stop you. Also, there are things that are pretty well marketed to make you feel if you buy them then you will feel better or live a life like that person. That’s why I included the hoover 🙊 By the way, I am definitely the last one 🤣 I could play hockey all day but ask me to workout and I really have to force myself 😄 Figure out what’s important to you and the value that you will get out of something. Don’t just dismiss it but think about if it is going to help you with your dream life. I’m not saying you should spend loads of money, but rather be intentional with spending. Do you do any of these? What the heck is an emergency fund? 👉🏻 If y What the heck is an emergency fund? 👉🏻 If you’re new to the personal finance space, you may have heard this term floating around & wondered what it is, and what it’s used for. An emergency fund is essentially as it sounds - a pot of money that you have set aside for an emergency. So, what sort of thing counts as an emergency? This could be things like: 👉🏻 unexpected job loss 👉🏻 death of a loved one 👉🏻 things breaking that aren’t covered by insurance/you don’t have enough to cover It’s important to note that emergency funds aren’t for things that you know are going to happen, like Christmas! That’s what sinking funds are for 😉 This is a calculation to help you work out how much you may need. I often see people overdoing their emergency fund as a way of putting off the next step that they need to take (just being real with you here!). Emergency funds are especially useful if you are a single income household & you have no “backup”. Do you have an emergency fund? I don’t know about you but when it starts to come around the time when my car insurance and MOT is due I start thinking about just walking everywhere instead 😅 Whenever we are trying to work on our finances, something will always come up. It just will! And these are things that can make us feel as though we are taking one step forward and two steps back. But there’s something that you can do! If you’re looking for an instant financial win that can change your life with little effort - this is it! Sinking funds are when you work out how much you need to save and then divide it by how many months you have to save, to give you your monthly savings rate needed. It may surprise you! Don’t worry if you can’t start off with huge amounts or if you feel you won’t be able to get those amounts in there in time, as it doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be started! There was a time when I was extremely frugal, & th There was a time when I was extremely frugal, & this was from necessity, not choice. It was a tough time for me, but cutting back on literally everything made it easier for me to see what was important to me. Although the car is on the save side, I knew that I would never want to be without a car again. But, I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a car. The type of car is a low priority for me. The other things that I like to splurge on have changed over time, and at the moment it they’re as above ☺️ We love date nights! We view them as a really important part of our relationship. When people find out you’re into finance or have a money platform, they assume that you don’t spend any money & that you’re going to tell them the same. Lol. I think you can spend money on whatever you want, as long as it’s what you truly want (and not what society is telling you to do) - and it needs to be within your means of course. If you take the time to sit down and write out things that make you feel better inside, this will help you to see what will be on your list above.
